Russia and ASEAN to Continue Interaction at the International Business Events

On 1–2 April, the 16th Russia–ASEAN Joint Planning and Managing Committee meeting and the 17th Russia–ASEAN Joint Cooperation Committee meeting took place in Jakarta, Indonesia. The events were attended by Alexander Ivanov, Ambassador of Russia to ASEAN.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the results and prospects for cooperation between Russia and ASEAN. New paths for interaction were identified in trade, economic, financial and humanitarian areas.

At the meeting, the Roscongress Foundation presented the initiatives with ASEAN that were implemented in 2018 during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum and the Eastern Economic Forum. Among them were the EAEU–ASEAN business lunch and the Russia–ASEAN business dialogue, which proved to be important discussion platforms for exchanging opinions on the integration processes in Eurasia. In addition, ASEAN official and business circles received an invitation to participate in SPIEF, which will be held on 6–8 June 2019, and EEF, which will be held on 4–6 September 2019 in Vladivostok. Special attention was paid to the discussion of Russia’s proposal for the Russia–ASEAN Economic Forum to be held in November 2019.

The participants of the meeting stressed that further cooperation at the key business events in Russia will contribute to the development of full-fledged cooperation and the strengthening of partnership between Russia and ASEAN.
