High-Level Russia-Singapore Inter-Governmental Commission
The participation of Singapore in the Trans-Pacific Partnership will not hamper the development of their free-trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union.
We have great ambitions, and we believe in the possibility for the development of the completely economic and trade relations with the region (ASEAN – Ed.). The fact that Singapore is a part of the new agreement, we are, unfortunately, not yet fully understand all the surprises that this agreement carries – Trans-Pacific Partnership. However, we are sure that the information that is in the government, and, as we report to the experts, that Singapore’s membership in the TTP and the creation of an FTA with the EAEC – this will give more opportunities, rather than reducing them.
The agreement between Singapore and the Russian Federation on the development of a free trade area will be more than an agreement between two parties.
That is exactly a great many who will use Singapore to move to countries in the Asia-Pacific region and those who want to trade with the Eurasian Union and generally build economic ties will be able to use Singapore as an infrastructure to penetrate our market.
First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Government, co-chairman of the High-level Russia-Singapore Inter-Governmental Commission (till 2018)
